Money Well Spent

Clearly that cash cow known as the Unity/UFT doesn't know what to spend their money on.
But, nevertheless, I will wear this button proudly in my underperforming, violent, inner-city school that our DR won't visit, and take all the verbal and physical abuse that I will receive....Nay, deserve.

Have any of the Unity hacks and lackeys talked to a teacher today... or ever??

You claim that your DR won't visit your school, but neither will you identify your school or name. By the way, union personnel are in dozens of schools every day on every imagineable issue. And usually the visit is highly appreciated by all members.

Yes I love it when the DR comes and tells us what a great job Randi is doing. I'm certainly glad she chooses him personally rahter than permit some election. I don't see that as collusion at all, and neither does anyone else at my school

My school is rife with greasy haired, black leather jacketed, be-bop listening, camel smoking, switch blade toting, zip gun wielding, Peggy Sue dating hoods- and thats just the staff!
That button should read, "Have you listened to your P.O. today?"

Once again I am embarrassed by my union.

Thats interesting everyone I have spoken to in the past 15 yrs has had nothing postive to say about our union. Where are all these great things happening (besides in the pages of the New York Teacher)?

I actually like the button. I think a target might have been a little more helpful for those students who do not possess the greatest aim.
The button should be stick-on so that it could quickly be placed on the forehead allowing for maximum damage from the locks, books, and cans being thrown your way.
The more damage inflicted would most certainly have a positive impact on the student's self esteem, and who knows, a scout for the Yankees may spot them.

Between the mayor and the UFT, no wonder we are looked upon with disdain.
Can we drop the Leave it to Beaver platitudes?
Or can I have a pro-rated refund of my dues?
These guys are right; put some real teachers in charge of the UFT.

I don't believe that ridiculing our union for trying to connect with students is helpful for anyone.
I think that the button will generate good will between teachers and the younger students while showing the high school age students how cool and "with it" teachers really are.
The children today have enough negative influences and this is a chance for us to become positive roll models for their future.
I know that I don't stand much chance of getting any of you "Grumpy Gussie" utp people to agree with me but I think I'm right.

mslosa has got it right, and even the fussbudgets at the utp have to agree: we're here for the kids, and whatever it takes to get it done is fine with us. It's crucial that our children know that we sometimes stay out too late at the burger shack too, but we still get our work done. Teachers are hep cats, but we're not staying on the beach all day with a frisbee with Frankie and Annette. Dig it!

At last some comments that make sense! What we all need now are more sock-hops and soda pops down at the drugstore. It's time to stop all the Unity bashing and get down to what really matters and that is the children. It doesn't matter that some of those children are in their early twenties and have 9 credits 'cause it's time for us all to make the scene! Lets dump all the bad vibes and head to the driven-in to catch the midnight showing of "Beach Blanket Drive-by".
Be there or be square my fellow cats and kittens!

I met him at the S.O. store.
He smiled at me, You get the picture? (Yes, we see.)
That's when I fell for my DR from Unity.
The UTP was always putting him down.
(Down, Down.)
Because he came from the two pension side of town.
(Town town)
They said our love would cause a fuss.
I said he's got no car so he takes the bus.
That's why I love him my DR from Unity.

One day Randi gave him a metro card.
he came to my school though the trip was hard.
I tried to warn him but he couldn't hear.
Those angry teachers were getting far too near.

He tried to smile like it was alright.
I knew I'd be fishing him out of the dumpster that night.
He said "If you don't like this contract you can always strike.'
Just then then that the chapter leader decided to take a hike.
(Look out! look out! LOOK OUT!)

I tried to help him but he ran from me.
My tears were falling and I couldn't see.
I'll never forget him my DR from Unity.
(Woo woo woo woo.)

I like the song!! Max is the man! It was a great departure from all the do-gooders and missionaries whining about helping the children. We want to fix this union. By hurting teachers our union leadership hurts kids too. Besides some of us don't care if we are "cool". I work in a H.S. I'm not in H.S. Get with the program and join the fight to take back our union or piss off, you wankers.

Redhog was a teacher with a full demanding middle school program with no sweet deals for 35 years and a chapter leader for ages, and he is Unity and only "hacks" when he has a cough.

Hey, Jack Hammer,
I'm a Unity Hack and I was in school today and spoke with lots of teachers. I reminded them to vote in the upcoming election and even mentioned that there's a pissant running against Randi, but neither I nor anyone else could remember his name. But I told them not to worry, just vote the Unity Slate.

Members of your group are suppose to be the alternative leadership to our union? That is scary.

A Unity Hack went to a school? Wow! Must've stumbled into one by accident.
Oh, yea, it's almost time for a vote; that's the only time you see them.
In the ideal Unity world, all opposition would cease. Instead of incorporating democracy, the insist on the Unity dictatorship. The love of money is the root of all evil, and that's what Unity is about: money.

Our past contracts have spoken most loudly against our unions leadership- not ICE/TJC or the UTP.
Unity has demonstrated its ineffectiveness and incompetence time and time again and now they must answer for it.

I work in a school where our "Chapter Leader" doesn't even hold elections when a delegate leaves! When I asked him to hold nominations
he told me to "go away" explaining he was "tired and suffering from malays."
When I told my friend about about this she couldn't believe her good ear.
